Schubert Fertigungstechnik: In a class of its own

Schubert Fertigungstechnik in Bartholomä, southern Germany, is expanding its areas of expertise: Based on state-of-the-art production, the specialists in the manufacturing of metal and plastic parts are broadening their capabilities and becoming an important service provider and strong partner to its customers.

Managing Director Jens Grieser explains: “With the ongoing growth and advancement of our portfolio, we aim to be an ideal value-added partner to our customers. And this is why we have significantly expanded our expertise in the areas of assembly, purchasing and design.” Specifically, this means that customers are now supplied with ready-assembled modules instead of a large number of small components. For example, small drive units, vacuum valves, the Transmodul’s turning station or tool changers for robots. Schubert Fertigungstechnik handles both the purchase of individual components and the assembly of modules.

New services in purchasing, assembly and design

A clear example is provided by the PARTBOX 3D printer: Its mechanical inner workings are developed in Bartholomä before being completed at Schubert Additive Solutions. “For this alone, we source from a double-digit number of suppliers and then assemble the numerous components into the finished subassembly,” reports Jens Grieser. The customer benefits are clear: More streamlined purchasing processes, manageable transport routes, secure supply chains, a shorter lead time in pre-production and, as a result, secure production with costs that can be calculated.

Furthermore, the Fertigungstechnik experts provide support with design modifications of customer components to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective production of the new parts. The Managing Director explains: “In recent years, we have made enormous investments in our production and lean processes. And of course, we want our customers to benefit from this as well. Our far-reaching experience acquired through many innovative projects and continuous exposure to new technologies provides us with the required expertise.”

In-house experience and know-how

To ensure that all new functions are handled in a highly professional manner, the Schubert Fertigungstechnik team was expanded and given extensive additional training. The company also benefits internally from the transformation, as it allows manufacturing capacities to be better controlled and certain activities to be decoupled from the process flows. This generates more opportunities for an optimal utilisation of production.

However, customers remain the top priority for the two managing brothers Jens and Marc Grieser. Marc Grieser explains: “Building strong customer relationships and working together as partners is very important to us. Personal contacts are key here. And today’s digital possibilities enable responsive, in-depth communication and exchange.” He adds that the end of this transformation has not yet been reached: “We are working on being able to take over even more upstream processes from our customers in the future.”

Anuga 2024: An extensive portfolio for food packaging

“Sustainable Growth” is the motto for the Anuga FoodTec 2024, which will be taking place in Cologne between 19 and 22 March. Gerhard Schubert GmbH will have its own stand at the leading trade fair for suppliers to the food and beverage industry. This year’s theme is a perfect match for the packaging specialist’s philosophy and Schubert is looking forward to showcasing its innovative, sustainable food packaging solutions at Stand C-071 in Hall 7.1.

A main highlight at the stand is the TLM Comfort Feeder – a new, efficient, resource-saving solution for feeding carton blanks directly from the pallet. The Schubert experts from Packaging Perspectives will also be introducing two ingenious, fully recyclable packaging concepts: Dotlock, a carton packaging without glue, and a carton-monofilm hybrid solution, also without glue. As always, Schubert will be providing advice on its extensive portfolio for the automated and environmentally friendly packaging of food and beverages.
